WEIGHT CONTROL

Official estimates are that around 80% of the people are overweight and half of those are grossly overweight, or obese.  Those who are obese are in grave danger, since that condition leads to Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Arthritis, and Stroke.  Food processors add a chemical to most processed foods.  That one chemical is responsible for the alarming increase in obese and overweight people.

THE OVERWEIGHT EPIDEMIC  A person has traditionally been considered obese if they are more than 20-percent over their ideal weight and overweight when they are simply over their ideal weight.  The effects of obesity are devastating.  It leads to Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Arthritis, and Stroke.  Those people who are even ten pounds overweight are at higher risk and should consider a weight loss diet to lose the extra weight.

An overweight condition can be caused by low-metabolism, but more often over-eating is the problem, and MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) is often the culprit.  MSG is added to most of the processed foods, and causes excessive hunger.  MSG is often listed on the product label with different names.  Even foods labeled “contains no MSG” do contain MSG disguised as Hydrolyzed Protein, Modified Food Starch, Natural Flavor, Vegetable Broth, or Chicken Stock.  Some foods high in MSG are: flavored potato chips, dry roasted peanuts, prepared soup and chili con carne.  Weight loss is difficult when even a slight amount of MSG is in the diet.

Read the labels on processed foods and you will be amazed at how many foods contain MSG and modified food additives.  MSG is added to most processed foods.  Those foods include mayonnaise, mustard, soup, salad dressing, and many other foods.  It is best to exclude processed foods from your diet altogether just to be sure and avoid MSG and promote weight loss.

  • POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS OF AN MSG REACTION: Anxiety, Burning Sensations, Confusion, Cramps, Depression, Difficulty Concentrating, Dizziness, Excessive Hunger, Excessive Thirst, Flushing, Headaches, Heart Palpitations, Hyperactivity, Hypertension, Lethargy, Moodiness, Nausea, Numbness, Rapid Pulse, Seizures, Skin Rash, Sweating, Swelling, Tension.

  • FOODS THAT MAY CONTAIN MSG:  Accent® (pure MSG), Bouillon, Canned Tuna, Cold Cuts, Dry Milk, Fish Extract, Flavored Chips, Fried Chicken, Frozen Dinners, Gravy Mix, Hotdogs, Instant Noodles, Instant Soup Mix, Mayonnaise, Parmesan Cheese, Prepared Mustard, Prepared Soups, Processed Cheese Spread, Processed Meats, Protein Drink Powder, Restaurant Gravy, Restaurant Soup, Salad Dressing, Sausage, Seaweed Extract, Self Basting Poultry, Soy Sauce, Whey Powder, Worcestershire Sauce.

  • FOOD ADDITIVES CONTAINING MSG:  Autolyzed Yeast, Beet Coloring, Calcium Caseinate, Carrageenan, Dough Conditioners, Glutamic Acid, Hydrolyzed Protein (not MSG but just as bad), Modified Food Starch, Monopotassium Glutamate, Natural Flavors, Sodium Caseinate, Soy Protein Isolate, Textured Protein, Yeast Extract.

DETERMINE YOUR IDEAL WEIGHT.  The American Board of Orthopedic Surgery uses the following method to determine ideal weight:

  • DETERMINE FRAME SIZE.  Extend an arm straight out and bend the elbow to a ninety-degree angle.  Measure the distance between the two prominent bones of the elbow.  Use the chart below to find the frame size.  The chart shows the measurements for a medium-sized frame.  If your measurement is lower, you have a small frame.  If your measurement is higher, you have a large frame.
