JUICE FASTING

Fasting is an instinctive way to deal with sickness.  Animals in the wild begin to fast when feeling sick and continue fasting until they get well or die.  Juice fasting alkalizes the body which helps with weight loss and disease prevention.

PREVENTION.  The old axiom, “prevention is the best medicine”, is still true today, and fasting is a powerful prevention therapy.  The key word here is “prevention”.  After a person becomes terminally ill, prevention is no longer an option.  At that stage, a cure is all that applies, and a cure is far more difficult than prevention.  People suffering with extreme illness are well advised to seek professional help that promotes a natural diet of fruits and vegetables to augment the therapy protocol.

DETOXIFICATION.  Fasting is an effective therapy for both healing and preventing disease because it detoxifies the body.  Fasting together with natural diet rich in fruits and vegetables will help avoid disease and extend ones life by many years.  Not only will life be extended, but also the quality of life will be better.  Disease cannot exist in an alkaline body.   Cancer cannot exist in an alkaline body.  Fasting turns your body alkaline.  Just imagine living without fear of cancer, heart disease, and all of the other ailments that plague the world.  Virtually all disease can be avoided through fasting.

PHASES OF FASTING.  Fasting is effective but not easy.  The fast must be carefully planned and followed.  The faster should have a complete understanding of what is happening to the body during each phase.  If the fast done incorrectly, it can do more harm than good.

  • PRE-FAST.  The pre-fast should be at least two days of nothing but fruits and vegetables, and half of that should be eaten raw.  Also, enemas or herbal laxatives help get the body ready for an effective fast.
  • FASTING DAYS.  The fasting days should include long walks, dry brushing the skin, and colon cleaning.  Hunger pangs can be avoided by drinking a combination of freshly prepared fruit or vegetable juice, lemonade, or vegetable broth.  When all fat, protein, and fiber are stopped, the body goes into a fasting mode.  In this state the body starts dumping mucus and toxins into the colon to purify the body.  The colon must be cleaned out daily to prevent re-absorption of the waste.
  • BREAKING THE FAST.  Breaking the fast is critical, and if executed incorrectly can be damaging and even life threatening.  For two days after the fast, the only safe foods are raw fruits and vegetables.  Cooked, starchy vegetables like potatoes must be avoided because they can block the intestines creating a very serious medical emergency.  Following these general rules will result in a productive fast and greatly enhanced health.

DISEASE PREVENTION THROUGH FASTINGRegular juice fasting combined with a healthful diet and proper sanitation can prevent disease.  That is because after the second day of fasting, the body goes into autolysis (self-consuming mode).  During autolysis, the body works to break down unused tissue, deposits of minerals, and toxins.  Unused tissue such as cancer cells, arterial plaque, and fat are recycled and used as food.  Mineral deposits are carried away in the blood and excreted by the kidneys.  Toxins and harmful chemicals stored in organs, around the joints, and in body fat are dumped into the colon to be eliminated.  The benefits of juice fasting are enormous, but they come very slowly.  As a rule of thumb, it takes two years of diligent fasting and healthful eating to rejuvenate a sick body.  However, it is not necessary to go all out to reap great rewards.  Even occasional fasting can make a significant difference.

Why is cleaning out the old, unused cells so beneficial?  A healthy youthful adult maintains a balance of cells in different stages of maturity.  Around ¼ of the bodies cells are new and not yet functional.  At least ½ of the cells are fully mature, productive cells.  The last ¼ of the cells are dying and being recycled.  As we age the percentage of dead and dying cells increases until the body can no longer function and death occurs.  Fasting clears away the unproductive cells and that makes room for the body to produce new ones, which improves health and extends the persons life.

MUCUS CLEANSINGJuice fasting is a very effective way to eliminate built-up waste that causes illness.  The sicker the person, the more care must be taken and the slower the healing process must proceed.  When approached correctly, the faster is not really bothered with hunger and finds the overall experience very rewarding.  After the fast there is a wonderful feeling of being squeaky clean and becoming healthier as the fasting program progresses.

START WITH SHORT FASTS.  Short fasts of 1-3 days are a very good way to cleanse the body of mucus.  They should be used along with longer fasts of more than 3 days, in around a 3 to 1 ratio.  That is, 3 short fasts spaced 1 to 3 months apart, followed by a longer fast of anywhere from 5 to 28 days, depending on the experience of the individual and personal goals.  The longer fasts are the most therapeutic because it is after the third day when the body goes into autolysis or self-consuming mode.  While in autolysis, the peristalsis or normal wave-like action of the intestine stops while all kinds of waste like mucus, toxins, and poisons are dumped into the colon.

DAILY COLON CLEANOUTThe waste accumulated in the colon is not eliminated without help.  If it is not cleaned out every 24-hours, the waste is reabsorbed in the colon, making the faster ill.  The ill feeling is marked by weakness, nausea, headaches, and sometime rather scary heart palpitations.  So, it is essential to clean out the colon daily, preferably each morning.  There are three common ways to accomplish the daily colon cleanout.

  • INTERNAL FLUSH.  A preparation of 1 quart of very warm distilled water and EXACTLY 2 level teaspoonfuls of sea salt are drunk as quickly as possible.  The correct amount of salt brings the specific gravity of the water to that of blood so the body does not absorb the water.  The salt water travels the entire length of the alimentary canal in around 30 minutes, cleaning out all of the mucus and toxins dumped into the intestines.  The effect is much the same as an enema.
  • HIGH ENEMA.  Prepare one quart of very warm distilled water and 2 level teaspoonfuls of sea salt.  Use an enema bag to feed water into the colon.  After the water is in the colon, go to a kneeling position and bend over so that the head touches the floor.  Stay in position for a few minutes, if possible, before sitting down on the toilet to release the water.  This cleans out all of the mucus and toxins dumped into the colon.
  • HERBAL LAXATIVE.   Take a potent herbal laxative such as Cascara Sagrada or any one of several preparations available on the Internet or health food stores.  Follow the directions on the package, or if using Cascara Sagrada, take two capsules at bedtime.  You should have results the next morning.  A cup of warm distilled water can be drunk to stimulate the evacuation.  If the colon is not emptied by noontime, take an enema to avoid becoming sick from re-absorption of the waste.

LIQUIDS DURING THE FASTThe liquids used during a fast are selected to satisfy the individual faster.  They can range from nothing but pure water to any combination of fresh fruit and vegetable juices.  The important thing is to consume nothing but vegetable liquids during the fast in order to completely shut down the fat/protein digestion function.

  • LEMONADE.  The best main drink is lemonade made with the recipe from the book, The Master Cleanser.  The recipe uses lemon juice, pure maple syrup, and a cayenne pepper to taste.  The lemon juice is an excellent alkalizer and stimulates liver function.  Maple syrup has a high mineral content plus it has a low glycemic effect compared to other sugars.  The cayenne pepper acts to increase the metabolism and mucus elimination.  This drink can be used in combination with other fresh juices and vegetable broth.
  • FRESH JUICE.  Freshly extracted fruit and vegetable juices can be used as a supplemental drink or as the mainstay of the fast.  Fresh juice provides calories and fights off hunger pangs.  Fresh produce, preferably certified organically grown, such as apples, carrots, and celery are juiced using a juice extractor.  These juices are very satisfying and provide an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes to eliminate waste and heal the body.
  • BROTH.  Vegetable broth is an excellent supplement to fresh juice.  It is very satisfying when hunger sets in.  Any kind of vegetables can be used.  Broccoli, carrots, and collard greens make a good broth.  The addition of onions, garlic,  a pinch of sea salt, and spices can be used to enhance the flavor.  The vegetables are chopped and combined in a stockpot with purified water to be simmered for an hour or more.  Only the broth is used—the chopped vegetables are discarded.
  • WATER.  Around eight 8-ounce glasses of purified water should be taken each day in addition to the other liquids.  The water should be at room temperature or heated.  Neither tap water nor cold water should be used.  Tap water contains harmful chemicals.  Cold liquids are absorbed in the first few feet of the small intestine.  Warm liquids end up in the colon to help flush out the mucus and toxins.

DAILY MENU

MORNING DRINK.  A good drink to wake up with is made with 12 ounces of hot distilled water, ¼ teaspoonful of cinnamon and Stevia or black-strap molasses to taste.

LEMONADE.  Lemonade is probably the best main drink for a juice fast.  It is made with lemon juice, pure maple syrup to taste, and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.  It provides calories, is a good alkalizer, stimulates liver function, and boosts the metabolism.  This drink can be used in combination with other fresh juices and vegetable broth throughout the day.

FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE JUICE.   Freshly extracted fruit and vegetable juices can be used as a supplemental drink or as the mainstay of the fast.  Fresh juice is prepared with a juice extractor using fresh produce such as apples, carrots, or celery.  The juice provides calories and an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes.

VEGETABLE BROTH.  Vegetable broth goes well on a juice fast.  Any kind of vegetables can be used.  Broccoli, carrots, and collard greens are some vegetables that make a tasty broth.  Onions, garlic, and spices can be used to add some flavor.  The vegetables are chopped and combined in a stockpot with purified water to be simmered for an hour or more.  Only the broth is used—the chopped vegetables are discarded.

PURIFIED WATER.  8 or more 8-ounce glasses of purified water should be taken each day in addition to the other liquids.  The water should be at room temperature or heated.  Neither tap water nor cold water should be used.  Tap water contains harmful chemicals.  Cold water stops the elimination process.

LATE NIGHT DRINK.  A good drink for a restful night of sleep is chamomile tea.  Start with 12 ounces of very hot purified water and steep the chamomile tea bag for 4 minutes.  Add black-strap molasses to taste, drink and go to bed.

SKIN CARE DURING THE FAST.  Skin is the largest organ of the body.  It protects the underlying tissue and eliminates waste.  Therefore, keeping the skin clean and the pores open is beneficial during a fast.  A very effective way to clean the skin is with a dry brush each morning.  Use a vegetable-bristle body brush and go over the complete body.  This will remove all of the dead skin cells and open up the pores.  After the brushing, take a shower or bath in water that has been filtered to remove the chlorine and related chemicals.
