ENVIRONMENT DANGERS
Today, there are many unseen environmental dangers.
During the last century over 80,000 new chemicals were introduced to the
world. Our air, water and food are no longer pure and wholesome. Some
of these dangers can, and should be avoided.
TOBACCO USE.
The dangers of tobacco use are much worse than earlier
thought. For many years we have heard of cigarette smoking being linked
to lung cancer and people thought that was the only thing to fear. That
is not so, because a smoker can look forward to being at least a 4 to 1
risk factor for all cancers and cardiovascular disease. Also, smoking
is a contributor to osteoporosis, stroke, premature aging, infertility,
and low birth weight babies.
Not only is the smoker at risk, but those in the same
space are facing a similar risk. Children with a smoking parent have 6
times more ear, nose, throat, and respiratory infections than those with
non-smoking parents. Considering the facts, the incentive to stop is
great, as is the need to stay away from tobacco smoke.
Breaking the tobacco habit is much easier said than
done. Nicotine metabolizes into a molecule very similar to heroin, and
that makes nicotine one of the most difficult addictions to overcome.
There are excellent programs to help overcome the tobacco addiction.
Churches and community service agencies sponsor many programs.
TAP WATER.
Each day a person should drink at least six 12-ounce
glasses of water per 100 pounds of body weight, and tap water is not a good
choice. During World War II Nazi Germany added
sodium fluoride to the drinking water in prison camps to keep the
prisoners calm and docile, it also has other problems.
Water is necessary for
the elimination of waste. The liver and kidneys use water to cleanse
the blood and it aids in elimination of fecal waste. Distilled, Reverse Osmosis (RO), or highly filtered water
is the only safe water to drink. Tap water from municipal water
supplies should never be used, not even in cooking. Municipal water
treatment plants use up to 47 chemicals to purify water. These
chemicals kill bacteria, which is good but most are harmful to humans.
Among the reasons for not drinking municipal water is that it contains
pesticides which combine with chlorine to make up a very toxic,
carcinogenic chemical. Also, sodium fluoride is added which is a
poison.
During the mid-1960's the FDA tested and approved calcium fluoride as an additive to municipal water as a tooth decay
preventative. While calcium fluoride is safe, it was sodium
fluoride that ended up being added to our water. Sodium fluoride is a
poison that has killed children who ate toothpaste from the tube.
People should avoid tap water and drink only purified or distilled
drinking water.
Tap water poses another danger. When showering without a
shower filter, harmful chemicals
are absorbed through the skin and and the steam enters the lungs causing
considerable damage. Low-cost shower filters are available in home
improvement stores and on the internet. They are a good investment
because they improve lung health and soften the skin.
ALUMINUM COOKWARE.
Research points to
aluminum in the diet as a cause of Alzheimer's disease and senility.
Coated aluminum containers are not a problem, but uncoated aluminum
cookware has large pores, which open when hot and close during cooling,
trapping food particles in the pores. The acid created by the
fermenting food etches away a small amount of aluminum that is released
into food the next time the cookware is used. Aluminum is a poison that
impairs brain function.
Aluminum cookware in
the home is only part of the problem. Many foods prepared in
restaurants are cooked in aluminum because it heats evenly and that
prevents hot spot burning. Often the food is cooked in aluminum
cookware and then served on plates or displayed on buffets in stainless
steel serving pans so people have no idea that aluminum cookware is
being used.
MICROWAVE COOKING.
Microwave ovens are
commonly used to quickly heat up food. During the process of heating
food, free radicals are formed which can cause cancer and attack the
cardiovascular system. Heating water in a microwave oven is safe since
free radicals are not formed. There is an additional risk of being near
the microwave oven while it is in use. Microwave ovens typically leak
small amounts of Radio Frequency radiation that may cause health
problems. The leakage has a very limited range so that it can be
avoided by standing back from the microwave to a distance of 5 or 6 feet
while the oven is running.
SHAMPOO.
Shampooing with the wrong shampoo can dump as much
nitrates into your blood as eating a pound of bacon, and nitrates are known
to cause cancer. Most
shampoos are made with animal fat and contain either Sodium Laurel
Sulfate or Sodium Lauren Sulfate as a sudsing agent. These chemicals
past through the skin and carry the nitrates directly into the blood.
Nitrates have been
proven to be cancer-causing carcinogens. Using a shampoo made with
animal fat, causes nitrates to be absorbed into the blood through
the scalp. The way to avoid the nitrates
is to either wash your hair with plain bar of pure soap like Ivory or
Dove, or use shampoo made with vegetable fat such as coconut oil or
olive oil.
