DISEASE PREVENTION
Hippocrates, the ancient Greek "Father of Modern Medicine" knew
the importance of a good diet. He said, “Let food be your medicine, and
let medicine be your food.” Those wise words tell us how important diet
is for disease prevention.
FOOD AS MEDICINE.
Most of
today’s disease can be avoided. The solution to good health is not found at the drug
store--it is found at the grocery store. Because, food is the cause
and the cure for disease and illness. Hippocrates, the ancient
Greek father of medicine said, “Let your food be your medicine, and
let medicine be your food.” Many societies of ancient and modern
times recognize food as the answer to good health and longevity. China
is probably the most noteworthy example of using food as medicine. For
thousands of years, the Chinese have been keeping records on the affect
of food on health. And to this day, they use food to maintain health
and cure illness.
What is the main
connection between food and a healthy body? The answer is the pH level
of your blood. The pH level of your blood determines the state of your
health. In most cases, when pH is consistently alkaline, you feel and
look good because you are healthy and vibrant. Conversely, when the
blood pH is acid, you feel bad and are prone to disease. Disease cannot
get a start when the body’s pH is slightly alkaline. Cancer, the number
one killer cannot develop in a body with an alkaline pH. Cancer must have
an acid environment to exist. The food you eat determines the pH level
of the blood, and therefore determines your level of wellness.
Alkaline foods are acid
and mucus forming. Mucus slows the assimilation of nutrients and
elimination of waste. It clogs the body’s blood, endocrine, lymphatic,
and waste elimination systems. An acid, mucus-laden body is necessary
for disease to live. Alkaline producing foods are mucus-less and help
build a strong immune system and well functioning body where disease
cannot exist.
HOW FOOD pH AFFECTS YOUR BODY:
ACID FOODS
such as fruits and
vegetables are ALKALINE producing and
MUCUSLESS. They
bolster vital body functions to improve health and prevent disease.
ALKALINE FOODS
such as meat and eggs
are ACID producing and
MUCUS FORMING. When excessively
consumed, they slow vital body functions and cause disease.
ACID FOOD VALUES.
The table below shows
values for acid foods, which are alkaline forming, mucus-less foods. The
higher the value, the more alkaline forming the food. For example, tea
has a value of 53.50, which is the most alkaline forming of any food in
the table. At the other end of the table is beer with a value of .18,
which is the least alkaline forming food in the table. The foods in
this table should make up most of the daily diet of a healthy person.

In the table above, egg
yolk is the most acid forming food and almonds the least. The foods at
the high end of the table should be eaten cautiously. Beef, for
example, should be limited to six ounces per day. Also, the relative
difference between beef and white fish makes eating more fish a healthy
choice.
HOW MUCUS AFFECTS HEALTH.
Several negative effects occur when the body becomes
bound up with mucus. As mentioned earlier, the body’s blood, endocrine,
lymphatic, and waste elimination systems come under great stress. The
blood becomes thicker and the circulation slows down. When margarine
and oils used in deep-frying are consumed, the blood becomes high in
low-density cholesterol, which causes a buildup of arterial plaque. The
endocrine system becomes burdened when called on to produce the
digestive juices to breakdown the heavy, mucus producing foods. The
lymphatic system becomes sluggish affecting the immune system. The
waste elimination system is the most affected of the body’s vital
functions. It becomes bound up causing constipation purification
of the colon.
The solution to a mucus
clogged body can be
simply stated in three words: change-of-diet. That puts you in total control of
the situation. Coping with a mucus-laden body does not require a huge
medical expense because it is something that can be done by the
individual by eating more of those foods which are alkaline producing
rather than acid producing.
